How have the level of university students changed?

Yesterday, I listened to a debate. The debate was about revival of journalism. I'm going to write the content in my Japanese blog (http://haruwoaisuruhito.blog34.fc2.com/) later, so please read it!

Here, I wanna write the level of univerdity students. One of the panelists of the yesterday's dabate was Takashi Tachibana, who is very famous commentator and journalist. He also teaches at Tokyo university. Yesterday, when the debate went to the university students, he said that the level of university students has gone down. Espesially, the more relaxed education policy was introduced when this year's freshmen were first-year students of high schools. So, a lot of professors are worried that the level of university students will fall (further). Yes, many people say such a thing.

However, my seminar's teacher said that the level of university students heven't gone down, rather gone up. Of course, the opinion is minority. And,excellent students may gather around the teacher by chance. But, we should listen to the idea further, I think.

Those who think the level of university students have gone down worried about global competitive strength. That is to say, they think that Japan's global competitive strength is inferior. Of course, the evidences which support the idea are showed by many people.

But, adults are always apt to tell such a thing. So, I cannot agree to such an idea. Of course, I 'm going to study modestly.

          What do you think?

summer vacation

Summer vacation started this Thursday. Yes, I don't have tests any more. The number of tests I had to take was two. Yeah, only a few tests for ordinary "university students". But, at Tokyo University it isn't unusual for sophomores who want to major in law/politics. (I'm one of such students apparently though I haven't decided yet what I will major in.) The last test was Chinese test. For Chinese test, I studied Chinese crying a little. While I was a student preparing for an entrance exam, almost every day I studied crying... However, after I became a university student, I didn't studey crying very much. But, this time I was so serious. This was because my Chinese teacher was so strict and I've really wanted to learn Chinese.(As you know, the former is the main reason.) ...Anyway, tests have finished! My summer vacation started!

This summer, I'm going to Cambodia. I wanted to go abroad. At first, I was going to the U.S. to study. But, I thought that summer vacation would be so short that I would not be able to achieve my aim; improve my English and so on. Next, I'm going to Egypt. I wanted to touch the attractive and mysterious power. But, the cost is so high... At last, I decided to go to Asia. This spring I went to China (Beijing, Nanjing and Shanghai), so I wanted to go another place. Yes, Southeast Asia is good! (The cost is smaller!) In addition, I would like to see a lot of things, especially it is impossible to see when we travel alone, rather than camp or volunteer.Yes, study tours NPO/NGOs plan is good! But, all "study tours" can satisfy my need. So, I searched a lot of Web-site and found a NPO. About its detail, please wait for new article.

Moreover, I'm going to Yamagata, too. The purpose is to get a driver's license. I'm not good at driving vehicles, but I need the license because my house is far from station and supermarket. So I'll do my best!

What is your schedule for this summer vacation?

payweek and pictures

This week was a pay week for me. I've worked as a part in a golf prastice range and taught two students at home. One is a third-year high school student, the other is a second-year junior high school student. as you know, I have three side jobs. Their paydays concentrated on this week! I'm so glad! Last month, I worked so hard. Yeah, I want to go abroad. So, I worked and worked.

The other day, I bought a digital camera. I've wanted to buy one for a long time, but I didn't have enough money so I couldn't buy. I'm going to put some pictures in this web-log! Please look forward to seeing them.

I like to take pictures. This is because it records my precious memories. Mr. Shinjo, a famous baseball player in Japan, said that a memory is more precius than a record. Yeah, it is true. I can agree with him. Nevertheless, I think that pictures are so wonderful. We, human-beings, tend to forget a lot of things, sometimes including precious memories. You think it is a great pity, don't you? Of course, it can be said that it isn't so important memories what we forget. But, I think a lot of people should have such experience that you remember some beautiful memories when you see some pictures. I think you also have such experience. In addditoin, pictures can cut a piece of the realities as plainly as possible and can tell the reality directly. Of course, there is also cameraman's subjectivity. But, its possibility is comparatively small, isn't it? This is because it records a moment. So, pictures have a great power, I think.

Do you like pictures? Are you camera-shy?

MOULIN ROUGE

Yesterday, I watched a movie on TV. MOULIN ROUGE! The movie is what a friend of mine had recommended me for a long time. However, I didn't have a chance to borrow its DVD/video from TSUTAYA. So, I had been looking forward to watching it on TV since I found that it would be televised.

The movie is like a musical. It is filled with many interesting music and dance. If you hear the music or look at the dance, you must burst out laughing at in spite of yourself. You will be able to sing to yourselves soon. You will wanted to dance! Its music and dance is so wonderful.

The movie is a love movie. It is also filled with love. And, there is a little sadness. The storyline is so simple and so common, but the message is so direct. It tells us an important thing through an image like a fiction. unn, I cannot write the detail here, so it is difficult to explain the attarction. Please watch it! You must enjoy it and you will be able to touch the wouderfulness of love.

I've started to write a new Web-log in English!

Hello. My name is Hiromi. I am a Japanese university student, sophomore. I live in Kanagawa, Japan.

Today, I wanna write why I write a Web-log in English. The reason is so simple. I wanna improve my English. I wanna talk with more people, all over the world. I wanna do something to let all the children who live in the world can smile. Of course, it's not enough to have a good command of only English. (So, I'm learning Chinese and French. Nevertheless, it's not enough. Yeah, I see.) However, at least, I have to be able to speak English to achieve my aim. So, I've started to write a Web-log in English. In fact, I started to write a Web-log in English in January. I used rakuten Web-log service. But, I couldn't use some marks there. For example, an apostrophe. Therefore, I cannot write "I don't" and "Hiromi's". (I couldn't use though I tried to use such marks in various ways.) It's so annoying for me. So, I decided to change the server.

I wanna write a new article every day. Yes, "wanna". However, I'll do my best, of course. There might be some mistakes. If you find any mistakes, please tell me. It must be helpful for me.
